Bangkok is adorable!

A couple of days in now and I’m still alive! More than that I’m thriving. Bangkok is a beautiful city filled with lots of charm, as I have found wandering it’s streets the last few days. The neighbourhood that my hostel was in (Sam sen) was super cute at night and during the day and I got really used to walking the streets and interacting with the people there.

The highlight of my day today was while meeting up with Randy from back home. I showed him the canal boat as an awesome means of transportation through Bangkok, but as we got off the canal boat his phone dropped into the merky canal water. We looked at it and figured it was gone, oh well. But some industrious locals got our attention and told us they could dive into the canal and retrieve it. They asked for 500 baht total if they recovered it (about 20 dollars Canadian) so we said yeah, sure go for it (there was no way we were going for it!). One guy ran off and came back a minute later in swim trunks, dove in, and spent 10 minutes searching the merky water for Randy’s $1000 phone! He ended up finding it and we all laughed and smiled and turned it on and it worked! They were amazed that it was waterproof, a positive ad for Sony. Such a funny experience.
