Well it happened. I made it to Bangkok and boy did I have an interesting introduction. I made a really good choice in hostel, very relaxed with a nice garden that people congregate in to get together before heading out into the world. Arriving around 6pm on Thursday night, almost immediately I had a beer in my hand and was meeting a whole group of awesome people. Some were fresh like me, just getting in, and some were more seasoned. A good system as the seasoned ones had the confidence to show us around, take us to khao San road, and help us make bad decisions. I can’t describe what we did because it would give my mom a heart attack, but we definitely crammed way to many people into a speeding tuk tuk. Welcome to Bangkok!
The next morning I woke up with a startle, where am I? Oh, I’m in fucking Bangkok! It was an interesting day, at first, thoughts like, ok I have to do some stuff. Overwhelmed, the realization that I don’t know how to get anywhere or do anything. Then, once you start doing things, it becomes more familiar and everything gets a little more comfortable. I started to really feel the pulse of Bangkok when the afternoon hit, the heat (maybe 40 degrees) gives everyone a real laid back attitude. My hostel hosted a BBQ in the evening and then I tagged along with two awesome people to go to the hipster market I had read about.
By the end of the day, I’m happy, confident, and ready to take on Bangkok, the rest of Thailand and South East asia. Coming here was the right decision!
