You have lots of money. More than any other country in South East Asia it would seem (at least maybe on a per capita basis).
Spending a weekend in Singapore was like spending a weekend in Vancouver or something (but maybe a bit nicer than Vancouver, re: no homeless people, also I dont know where they put the poor people).
Lush tree lined streets, high rises everywhere, lots of cyclists, ample public transportation, plentiful offerings of food, massive displays of public art, activities, festivals, malls, beaches, parks and lots of gardens.
Gosh! Really totally unlike any Asian city I have seen at this point. Luckily I had my parents friends Ester and Jimmy take care of me for the weekend, making sure I had some Singaporean “must eats”.
It all started with Ramen! At one of Singapore’s best ramen places.
Singapore specialty: pepper crab. Not spicy but fulllll of flavour
A dessert that came out fuming! Dry ice in the bottom compartment just for effect or was it necessary to make the jello and cream part on top?
Cycling with Jasmine, in the sweltering heat! I’m getting used to this whole hot and sweaty thing.
I forget the name of this but it had a “c” in it somewhere. Shaved ice, syrup, cream and mango fruit stuff
And the best Chinese food I have ever eaten, including pig ear, bean curd, dumplings with soup inside them, and perfectly friend spring rolls
And for dessert, jello with flowers and dried goji berries
Top it all off with a free Lazer show down at the marina
Oh and a Japanese style brunch feast at the airport
Thanks to my adoptive Singaporean family for treating me to some real hospitality over the weekend! It was such a treat!
