So, I just spent a night in Tokyo and it was beautiful! Granted, I don’t know very much Japanese, which would have been useful, but I was still able to get just enough of a taste (drool) of what Japan has to offer. I would definitely put this as a come back here later and spend more time here thing!

It was fun trying to figure out how to do things, and to have people try and help you using point and hand gestures, but it was also fun to “people watch” in the night life district. Example: Realizing, no those young guys in the street with pamphlets and making eyes at all the ladies that pass by aren’t just waiting for their friends, theyre prostitutes! That being said I’m not sure if all the male prostitutes I saw were selling sex or just company but there was a ridiculous amount of them at times. But, that’s just their culture and their culture has produced such awesome things as anime, and all their fucking food! I haven’t eaten anything here I didn’t like yet, and I’m not sure if there is any (we might have to go pretty deep to find those).

I’m not sure I’d enjoy living here (in Tokyo, pretty crowded) but the look of the streets has a certain charm to them. They are highly developed, but have very little space and don’t have very fancy exteriors. A multitude of power cables go up and down each building and street and no two buildings look the same.

Godzilla! I had the pleasure of seeing someone point and scream Godzilla when they saw it (although not terrified, more of in an excited/happy tone)

And ramen, delicious ramen, from a random ramen bar in Shinjuku. Definitely on shiki menya level of awesomeness.

And sushi, where just some random sushi is better than most you’ve ever had in Calgary (probably with Zipang being the exception).

And being part of the organized chaos is fun, know your place and stick to your guns and somehow it works out
