Woops

Let me explain myself. My phone has become royally fucked over the last month or so. At first, it was just a dead zone from the top of the screen to the bottom along a line that unfortunately bisected the keyboard. But then it started thinking it was being touched in places I was not touching, in a button mashy kind of way.

I had to watch in horror as my phone took on a mind of its own, and did things like try and voice call my ex boyfriend, or send garbled messages to my friends and family

“Ahabbdndndnsnnw Bajaj sbhsj” it would say
“Heather, are you ok? Is everything alright?” My concerned friends and family would ask.. but I was unable to respond, as even the sentence “Yes, I’m fine, but my phone is fucked” was even to much to type.

But sometimes the phone cooperated, and allowed me to surf the web, and use workarounds like autocorrect and copying and pasting to regain some of the functions that were lost to the dead zone.

So I avoided replacing it and opted for the slightly frustrating lifestyle I have now become accustomed to, because at least it has allowed me to gain some independence from the phone addicted travellers lifestyle.

The worst part about this is that I no longer am able to document my experiences with photos. And I have seen some massively beautiful scenes, and had awesome experiences with awesome people, but those will be confined to images within my memory, and I am truly sorry that I cannot share them with my friends and family, new and old from all over the world. But, it is selfishly satisfying knowing that those moments are forever just for me and the people i experienced them with.

And now for the update. I’ve been to Myanmar! It is a lovely country, full of smiling people, who will go out of their way to make us foreigners feel welcome. I get the feeling that none of them would harm us, as they are actively making sure we have a positive experience in their country. And it is a truly beautiful country, with rich history and culture and traditions that I have had the pleasure of seeing and being a part of. Myanmar people flash a happy smile when they see you trying to immerse yourself in their culture, and they also might laugh because you’re doing it wrong, but don’t worry, they will show you how to do it once the laughter subsides.

Now, I’m in Cambodia and I’m going to celebrate the election of Supreme Chancellor Trump by going to the killing fields and genocide museum. Hindsight is 20/20 people and this is the kind of stuff hate and terror breed.

I knew you were okay. Bittersweet to be returning to this post-election world, but you are coming home to people who love and miss you. I’m sitting Dec. 21 to Jan 1 at Dhamma Karuna, but will see you at pre-xmas dinner at R&Ps on Dec. 18 if you can save that date please! But hope to see you before that. You’d think you could find a cheap unlocked phone somewhere in Asia to swap your sim card into. But there you go. Otter phone cases are apparently the most indestructible.
